TITLE: Birth to 3 Parent Educator/Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education
- State of Illinois Certification/License- Early Childhood
- Preschool teaching or student teaching experience is preferred
REPORTS TO: Early Childhood Supervisor/Building Principal
JOB GOAL: A certified parent educator implements the PAT model, emphasizing parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting and family well-being in their work with families. Utilizing the PAT Foundational Curriculum in culturally sensitive ways, the parent educator partners, facilitates and reflects with families.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Demonstrating Knowledge of Resources - Connect families to resources that help them reach their goals and address their needs
- Complete an initial and annual family-centered assessment with each family
- Creating an Environment of Respect and Rapport
- Establishing a Culture for Learning
- Engage in recruitment activities (as applicable)
- Develop, monitor and review goals with each family
- Use the PAT Foundational curriculum to share research-based information with families
- Plan and provide personal visits focused on parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting and family well-being
- Provide group connections to give families an opportunity to build social connections with each other, engage in parent-child interaction activities, and increase their knowledge of ways to support children's development

- Complete at least an initial and annual developmental screening and health review for each enrolled child
- Demonstrating Flexibility & Responsiveness
- Help parents and children transition to other services as needed, to preschool, or to kindergarten

- Reflecting on Learning - Participate in at least 2 hours of reflective supervision monthly and at least 2 hours of staff meetings monthly
- Maintaining Accurate Records - Document personal visits focused on parent-child

- Growing & Developing Professionally - Obtain competency-based professional development and renew parent educator certification annually

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board, per Teacher’s Contract.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Performance Evaluation Reform Act (PERA) and SB 7. Any conflicts within this provision and SB 7 will be superseded by Ed Reform.
